There's a specific type of puzzle that sneaks up on you. You tell yourself you'll play one level, and forty minutes later you're still rearranging colored balls between tubes with the focus of someone defusing a bomb. Ball Sort Master is squarely in that camp. It's quiet, tidy, and deceptively sticky. We sat with it far longer than we planned — which, for a sorting puzzle, is high praise.

The basic idea

Ball Sort Master gives you a row of tubes, each filled with a jumble of colored balls, plus a couple of empty tubes to work with. The entire goal is to sort every color into its own tube. You move one ball at a time, and you can only place a ball on top of a matching color or into an empty tube. That single restriction is what turns a trivial-sounding task into a real logic puzzle: every move closes off options elsewhere.

How it plays

Controls could not be simpler — tap a tube to lift its top ball, tap another tube to drop it. On desktop it's a click; on phone it's a tap, and both feel precise. What makes the moment-to-moment play satisfying is how legible everything is. You can read the whole board at a glance, mentally trace a sequence of moves, and then execute it. When a plan comes together and the last tube snaps into a solid column of one color, there's a small, genuine payoff. An undo button is on hand for when a plan goes sideways, and it takes the sting out of experimenting.

What we liked

What could be better

The honest knock on Ball Sort Master is sameness. Every level is the same core task with more colors and tighter space — there's no mechanical twist waiting a hundred levels in to shake things up. On the harder boards, the lack of a "reset to start" shortcut separate from undo can mean a lot of tapping backward when a line of reasoning collapses. These are small gripes against a puzzle that nails its fundamentals, but if you need novelty to stay engaged, the format may wear thin.

A strategy that works

The move that separates easy wins from stuck boards is protecting your empty tubes. Treat an empty tube as a precious temporary workspace, not a dumping ground — once you fill it with mismatched balls, you've traded away your flexibility. Aim to complete one color fully before scattering balls around, and always look for a move that consolidates two partial stacks of the same color. We lay out the full approach, including the free-tube trick, in our ball sort strategy guide, and it'll pull you out of most dead ends.

Verdict

Ball Sort Master is a clean, honest logic puzzle that respects your brain and your time. It doesn't dress itself up or try anything flashy — it just offers a steadily tightening test of planning, and executes it almost perfectly. The repetition is the only real ceiling on it. Editorial rating: 4.5 / 5. Best for: anyone who likes a calm, think-first puzzle they can chip away at.
